Yep! I was there again at the end of July - for one more plate of carne guisada before my birthday month ended!

The carne guisada, rice and beans were perfect, as were the fluffy flour tortillas! I'm not complaining about the chips & salsa either, folks!

Don't let the fancy Olmos Park address fool you, Mary Lou's has righteous San Antonio Tex-Mex. It's definitely a favorite of mine.

Can't wait to see y'all again soon, Mary Lou's!

Food was good. But the service was odd...literally no one busses tables. I had two empty salsa containers, empty beer bottle, and empty plate of chips that I eventually stacked mid meal to make it a point. Waitress came by and took nothing. I asked her if she could take it and I guess she didn't hear me?? I looked around and noticed everyone's table was filthy. Just cluttered with empty dishes. It was not busy.

My theory on the hiring process:
    Interviewer-"do you bus tables?"
    Interviewee-"no of course not."
    Interviewer-"perfect you're hired."

The worst (non)service! I walked in and sat down and waited to be helped. No one came up to my table, other customers that were seated were also looking around for wait staff and no one attended tables while I was there.
There were two waitresses standing at the register having a conversation and laughing but obviously too busy to attend to customers. I was on a lunch break so after almost ten minutes of waiting I just decided to leave.
I was upset enough to approach the two waitresses and ask for a manager to give them the feedback about the lack of service but I was told there was no manager on duty. Never going back.

    No chips for you.
We started out with a friendly hostess who seated us.
We had salsa on the table but there were no chips.
The salsa and chips always come together.
We had to special order the chips.
    Their chorizo and scrambled eggs
are major league quality and taste.
When topped with a dish of pico de gallo this dish was a home run.
The chicken fajitas are good, the tasty chicken breast meat was marinated and there was plenty of it.
The retried beans tasted good and the rice was also.
Our server was friendly and pretty quick. This seems to be a popular place in Olmos Park.
I found a great spot for chorizo and eggs, and more good Tex/Mex food.

The waiter was working more tables than he can handle. Not sure if that was his lacking or the Managers lacking. Took almost 29 minutes to take our order knowing we were ready when he brought us or drinks. Then when serving the food he overloaded himself and dropped the jalapeño bowl all over me and the table. So now I have jalapeño juice on my hands. Food wasn't bad. Restaurant itself is nice. Not sure how I am feeling about it though. Had to get the hostess to get him to take the order. And after all that.
